6. I put this in the PRO column because I was so impressed. I complained once about driving all the way down there only to find the store closed, contrary to the hours posted on their website. To compensate, they "Pushed it North" with expedited shipping for free - meaning they paid all the rush shipping and brokerage charges to deliver the parcel to my door, and they included two free bridge passes. The manager assured me they would do a better job of posting their actual hours on their web site, which I have found to be accurate since. The true mettle of a company shows through in how they respond to their mistakes, and in this case, I was happily impressed.
1. The service, while mostly competent, is not always the friendliest.
4. Speaking of the bridge, they give you a free bridge toll pass if you pick up three parcels or more at one time. That's an extra nice touch.
I've picked up a few packages here and had nothing but great experiences. The staff is very helpful. One time they spent quite a lot of time recommending places to eat in town and giving me directions. Another time, a staff member went out of her way to locate a parcel that had been delivered (according to my tracking information) but not made it to their warehouse for some reason. She was able to find out that it had been sent to the UPS store instead of to them (an error on the part of the shipping company). The only thing people need to make sure of (and this has nothing to do with MyUSAddress) is that the cost of shipping + the $6 fee at MyUSAddress + tolls at the bridge in and out + any fee you pay to enter the US (I've had to pay to enter because my visit was considered to be for business purposes) is less than just getting the package shipped to Canada, assuming the company ships to Canada. I haven't tried their Push It North Service, so can't comment on that.
2. While the service is not always as friendly as I might like, they are always useful. They will lend you a cart to so you can wheel big items out to your car.
I am a Canadian who does a lot of cross-border shopping. I used to use the UPS store, but no longer since I switched to myusaddress.ca.
3. I love the automatic emails I receive every time a parcel arrives. I reconcile the myusaddress.ca emails against my orders, and I can tell if all my parcels have arrived before I make the trip across the bridge.
I agree with Corey, this is not a scam!! You know there is a $5.00 charge per item up front when you sign up. I've picked up numerous parcels there in the past couple of years with no problems at all. It's a great parcel service for Canadians.
5. Use of their computer and printer is free for order related actives, such as printing out your invoices for Canada Customs, or printing out a return authorization slip.
Great service. WAY more organized than the competition. The only problem with the service is that there is no simple way to standardize the name of the company sending parcels, so notifications are sent out with names like 'PRIVATE SENDER' or warehouse names. This makes it very difficult to prepare customs papers for commercial shipments because you don't know what's at the warehouse until you're already there.
PROs:
1. The system is very well organized. It takes a maximum of 5 minutes to locate your parcels, even for a big order.
CONs:
I have been dealing with this office for several years without any problem what so ever. Some of the "problems" mentioned are just simply dumb. 1) Scam? WTF are you talking about? You sound more like a competitor who wants to bad-mouth this business. 2) Over a year and they threw the shipment out? Imagine that! How much time would you consider reasonable? 100 years?
2. You cannot ship returns from there.
